Siding  ·  United States

One siding crew.
The weather stops at the wall.

We match you with a single licensed, insured siding contractor who shows you what is behind the old panels instead of covering it before you get home.

Siding work by a vetted contractor
Know before you call

Three signs your siding stopped protecting you

01

Chalk comes off on your hand

The finish has broken down and the panel underneath is brittle. From here, weather does the rest.

02

Cracked or split panels

Every split is a path to the sheathing behind the wall. Freeze-thaw widens it every single cycle.

03

Soft spots when you press it

If the wall gives, water has been getting in for a while and the problem is no longer the siding.

Where the money goes

What a siding job is really made of

Rough shares of a typical job. Ratios, not prices — yours will differ.

Labor and tear-off~45%
Removal, prep, and the trim work nobody photographs.
Siding material~35%
Vinyl, fiber cement, engineered wood. The shopping part.
House wrap and trim~15%
The actual weather barrier, plus corners, J-channel and caulk.
Disposal and permit~5%
Small line. Should still be on the page.
Red flags

Lines that should end the conversation

01
“We’ll just go over the old siding.”Sometimes fine. Often it seals in rot you are now paying to hide. Ask what happens when they open a wall and find water.
02
No mention of house wrapThat is the actual weather barrier. If it is not in the quote, ask whether it is in the job.
03
No rot allowance or rateThey will find something. Agree the price per sheet before they do, not after.
Ask this one question

Can I see the house wrap before the panels go on?

Once siding is up, nobody can tell whether the wrap was installed properly. A crew doing it right will be pleased you asked. That reaction alone tells you what you need to know.

How it works

Three steps. One contractor.

STEP 01

Tell us what's going on

A few questions about the job and your area. Under a minute, and no phone number gets sold.

STEP 02

We match one pro

Licensed, insured, five-plus years in siding. One company per area — not a list of five.

STEP 03

You get a real quote

They look at the actual job and give you a number you can read line by line. You decide.

Before / after

The work, not a stock photo.

Same house, same angle. This is the standard every contractor in the network is held to.

Siding project before and after
Straight answers

Siding questions, answered honestly.

How long does siding last?

Vinyl typically 20-30 years before it looks tired; fiber cement considerably longer if painted on schedule. The panels usually outlast the caulk at the joints, which is what actually fails first.

Can I side over the existing siding?

Sometimes, and it saves on tear-off. You lose the chance to inspect the sheathing, so ask directly what happens if there is rot underneath.

Is insulated siding worth it?

It adds a little R-value and a lot of rigidity, so panels lie flatter and dent less. Buy it for durability and appearance. If someone sells it purely on energy savings, discount the pitch.

Should I pressure wash my siding?

Not at high pressure. Lap siding sheds water downward; a pressure washer aimed upward drives water behind the panels, which is exactly where it must never go. Low pressure and a soft brush.
